Shimano SPD-SL pedals?

Hi, Does anyone else have difficulty using Shimano SPD-SL pedals? I have them on the easiest tension setting and still struggle to release my feet. So much so I've no confidence to cycle with them. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe I naively thought you could easily disengage your foot. Any advice would be welcome.....many thanks
