Metal Gear Solid 1 missed thermal?

I am playing mgs 1 and i missed the thermal goggles. i am on the cyborg ninga fight and i dont have thermal goggles. How do i beat him? Can i use smokes? Also i know that i have to have a level 4 card if i missed the gogles but could you tell me exactly where they are so i know how to get them?
