OMG! I'm freaking out... Please help!?

OMG. This morning after the garbage man took our trash, I see at least 1000 maggots in my trashcan. I almost fainted let alone crappy smell!. i made bad judgement so I put the garden hose in the trashcan to get them out, and did not notice that our trashcan has a hole in the bottom. Now they are all spread out swimming in our garden. I hate them so much and our entire garden area smells like trash can and maggots are swmiinng everywhere. I don't know what to do. Please help what I can do about killing most of the maggots that are outside our house. We can't even open the window because of the smells and we are scared that the maggots might come into our house.. is it possible? What do we do now!!
