Guitar question - straps and metally sound - Newbie?

Spend a few $ on a proper strap (shouldn't be more than 10 bucks tops). Yes there's a metally sound to the strings and it's dependent on the make of strings you have. If it's the stock factory strings they could be anything. Recommend Ernie Ball Slinky 9 thou (pink pack) or if you like a brighter sound Gibson VR 9 thou. You learn to control the metallic sound to your advantage and embellish the sound of the note with harmonics rather than sounding clunky.
